William A. Humbert Memorial Scholarship Instructions
2010 Award: $5,000
A successful applicant must complete the following:
1. Have two of the three persons below send or email (followed by hard copy) us a letter of recommendation to the address at the bottom of the page:
a. Ensemble director
b. Your private music instructor
c. A person of your choice
2. Have the registrar’s Office of your college or university send a transcript of your grades to the address below.
3. Complete an audio recording of a representative repertoire performed by you and include with your application. One copy is acceptable, two are preferable.
a. Audio recordings should be submitted on a compact disc. Performances must be unedited. If compact-disc recording is not available, you must contact the community foundation (email or phone) PRIOR TO SUBMITTING APPLICATION to discuss options.
b. At the beginning of the recording, announce the name of the performer and the title or the work(s) being performed.
c. Clearly label the compact disc with the name and address of the performer and the medium of the performance.
d. Record from 5 to 15 minutes of music. Any recording longer or shorter will not be accepted. Recording must be playable on a CD player, not computer only.
4. Complete the attached application or go to www.cfharfordcounty.org and click on the scholarship tab to download the application. Send 1 copy by the deadline date to the address below.
For return of compact disc, please enclose an appropriate mailer that has been self-addressed and stamped. All other compact discs will be destroyed once the scholarship has been awarded.

Complete applications must be postmarked by January 29, 2010. A complete application includes 2 letters of recommendation, transcript of your grades through the most recently completed semester, performance recording, and application form. The community foundation reserves the right to reject incomplete application packages.
